While we were at the Antique Fair in Fiskars, we saw some leaflets published by a local association that promotes traditional farming methods. One of them was on hay making, so we bought it (princely sum of 2e). P. used the tractor to cut the grass on the front field and we left it there for a few days. Then he remembered there was an old horse-drawn hay raking thing in the forest in Rosendal. So... rather than buying a horse (phew!) he hooked the contraption up to the tractor. And it worked!!! The contraption turns the hay over and rolls it up. Then using a hay fork P. lifts it up and throws it over a wooden stake.
I think the hay rake is just an amazing-looking piece of machinery. That seat doesn't look very comfortable but it is certainly quite decorative.
