Last night the girls were in a very playful mood. it was getting dark when I went down to light the sauna and, as usual, they wandered over to watch. But then they invented a very silly game. They would all run off at top speed across the field and then stop and turn and stare at me. After one or two minutes they would stampede across the field straight at me. I stood my ground (takes more than a flock of ewes to scare me) and then they ran either side of me, practically knocking me over, and then regrouped on the other side of the field. Then they stood and stared for a couple of minutes and then they stampeded again! This went on for about half an hour! This morning it was so misty we couldn't see them from the cabin. But after the mist lifted I went up to Rosendal and collected all the windfalls. They aren't all crazy about apples though, but the little ewe with the white tail likes them the most. I also gave them some carrots and some fresh willow from the ditches. They have almost finished all the hay that P stacked up on the poles, but there is still plenty of grass. They really enjoy the wet grass in the morning when it is covered in dew. (By the way, they have all been sold, but we think we have found a home for Elisa during the winter.)
