Bzzz...

We are currently harvesting this year's honey.  We will have honey for sale at the Slow Food Fair in Fiskars  and REKO in Ekenas (Raseborg) and Olari (Espoo)

Scraping wax from the frames
Spinning the frames
The very first stream of 2015 honey
Liquid gold
The filter stops pieces of wax and pollen getting into the honey.
We worked until about 3 am but did not finish spinning all the frames.  We also have hive #2 to empty and then the Rosendal hive as well.  We will take the frames out of those two hives today and then do all the remaining spinning tonight (with Fred).

The big Langstroth frames are very difficult to spin as the honey is thick and sticky.  Some of the Farrar frames were huge and heavy with really nice honey.  We had to leave a lot of uncovered frames in the hives but maybe next week we will go back and remove them if they have been sealed by the bees.  Removing uncovered frames can change the humidity levels of the honey and maybe result in some fermentation.
